Reflective Supervision for Perinatal Loss

Working in the space of Perinatal Loss takes a unique set of skills and understanding of a client’s individual experience. Clinicians in this space hold privileged positions to witness the devastating heartbreak & distress that women and families experience through the loss of a pregnancy and baby.

Dianna Giles has sat with families in the space of loss over many years and brings her skills as an accredited mental health social worker to hold clinicians as they navigate the challenges and triggers that this experience can evoke. Having worked in a Neonatal Intensive Care unit for over a decade, alongside her experience of working both in private practice and at Red Nose as a bereavement counsellor, Dianna holds both the theoretical frameworks for grief and loss in addition to countless hours of experience sitting along families experiencing loss.

Dianna highly values the need to psychologically hold space for clinicians as they do this important work. Grief impacts us all, and everyone has their unique triggers. Dianna invites clinicians to come together in intimate groups to reflect upon cases so that the group can provide the holding and wonderings to support clinicians in understanding the experience of their client and in gaining a rich understanding of working with grief by actively participating in group reflective practices.
